Brutal Murder Shakes Rosario Amid Gang Violence

Andrés "Pillín" Bracamonte, head of the soccer team's hooligan group Rosario Central, was murdered after a match against San Lorenzo. He had mentioned on several occasions that he had survived approximately thirty assassination attempts. The violence surrounding the leaders of the hooligan groups is a persistent problem in Argentine soccer.

After his death, Bracamonte's body was buried in a cemetery in a town near Rosario, in an intimate ceremony attended by about ten family members. However, the burial location was surrounded by uncertainty, as several places refused to receive him due to security issues.

In light of the possibility of future clashes between gangs and disputes for the leadership of Central's hooligan group, the authorities increased police presence in the area. Residents of Rosario remain on alert for fear of reprisals and new episodes of violence.

In a previous interview, Bracamonte had expressed concern that his death would spark disturbances in the city. He had recounted a prior incident where, after being shot at, he was proposed a vengeful hunt. His death has brought to light the violence and insecurity surrounding the world of hooligan groups in Argentina.
